About Us

    Our Story

    Our Story

Years before Hope of Glory Band ever existed, Dad had a dream. He wanted our family to serve the Lord together through music. That's one of the reasons he enrolled me in piano lessons back in 2011. At the time, I had no idea I was being prepared for something much bigger.

    Then COVID happened.

Like everyone else, our world suddenly slowed down. Thankfully, since we'd been homeschooled our entire lives, staying home wasn't much of an adjustment for us. One day, Dad called me into our very empty music room and asked me to play one of the classical pieces I'd learned at piano school. As I played, he jumped on the electronic drums and started adding a backbeat.

I'll be honest—I was completely thrown off. I'd never played with a drummer before!

Neither of us knew it then, but that was the first rehearsal of Hope of Glory Band.

Dad immediately started handing me hymn after hymn and old gospel songs to learn. There was just one problem... they weren't written out. They were chord charts.

    I hated it.

I'd spent years learning to read every note on a page, and now Dad expected me to play from letters and symbols that felt like a completely different language. Looking back, I'm so thankful he pushed me through it because those chords opened up a whole new world of music.

Not long after, Mom decided she wanted to learn bass. She quietly started teaching herself. Then Dad moved Judah from the snare drum to the full drum set. He definitely wasn't thrilled about it, but Dad kept encouraging him anyway. Finally, Uriah climbed onto a keyboard to play organ and strings while I helped him learn his parts. At the time, I was 13, Judah was 10, and Uriah was only 9 years old.

For years, Dad faithfully called rehearsal every week. If we're being honest... everyone except Mom usually wished he'd cancel. But he never gave up on us. He chose beautiful songs like Alabaster Box, In the Presence of Jehovah, and Spirit of the Living God, and before long he had us playing them for family, friends, and anyone else who would listen.

We weren't polished. We missed notes. We made mistakes.

But little by little, God was making us into a band.

When I was 15, something happened that completely changed the way I saw what we were doing. During one performance, I watched someone be deeply moved by the words my mom was singing. In that moment, I realized we weren't just learning songs—we were sharing the hope of Christ through music. That realization changed everything for me.

Dad continued stretching us, and before long we went from playing one or two songs to presenting our first 25-minute Christmas concert in 2022.

Since then, we've simply tried to follow wherever the Lord leads. We pray about the places we go, the songs we sing, and the opportunities He puts in front of us. Looking back, it's amazing to see how faithful He's been every step of the way.

Everything we have and everything we do belongs to Him. We're just grateful that He chose our family to be part of His story.

And honestly... we can't wait to see what He has planned next.
